History The first known owners of the town of Kukizov in Lviv land were the noble family of the Herburt, which was of Saxon origin. The owner of the settlement was the future Belz castellanJan Gerburt, at his request in 1538 King Sigismund I the Old granted permission for the rights of the city of Kukezov.
In the 17th century, Stanislav Zholkevsky received the town as the dowry of his wife, Regina from Herburt. Later, the town passed to the Sobieskis. In 1699, Constantius Wladislav Sobieski, with the permission of King Augustus II, granted Kukezov the privilege of Magdeburg law. The privilege contained a description of the coat of arms, which was allowed to be used by the town: "On a red background, a golden key is placed by a pillar, turned by a beard on the left". The coat of arms somewhat resembled the Polish noble sign "Yasenchyk", but differed from it in the color of the background and, obviously, was a symbolic image of the "key to the city".
After 1772, Kukiziv was attributed by the Austrian government to the Lviv district, and in the 19th century to the Lviv district. As before, it retained the status of the town and the coat of arms, confirmed by the description from 1699, which, in particular, was noted by the "Geographical Dictionary of the Kingdom of Poland", published in Warsaw in 1880-1895, and the register of F. Kovalyshyna.
