Maârif, Casablanca-Settat Region, Morocco
🇲🇦 Maârif or El Maârif (المعاريف, 'the notables') is a neighborhood of Casablanca, in the Anfa district of the Casablanca-Settat region of Morocco.
1History In 1949, the musician Salim Halali settled in Morocco and transformed an old café in Maârif into a prestigious cabaret, Le Coq d'Or, where Warda Al-Jazairia and El-Haja El-Hamdaouia performed. In the neighborhood is also located the Mohammed V stadium which holds room for 44,000 spectators.
The novelist Mohamed Zafzaf also lived in the neighborhood.

Maârif has a population of over 180,394 people. Maârif also forms one of the centres of the wider Anfa District which has a population of over 492,787 people. It is also a part of the larger Casablanca Prefecture.
