Alta Floresta d'Oeste, Rondônia, Northern Region, Brazil

🇧🇷 Alta Floresta d'Oeste is a municipality located in the Brazilian state of Rondônia. Its area is 7,067 km².

It holds part of the 615,771 hectares (1,521,600 acres) Guaporé Biological Reserve, a strictly protected conservation unit.

History The municipality was created on May 20, 1986. Its origin was a consequence of the advance of the migratory front towards the west in demand to the Guaporé Valley. The small population nucleus evolved rapidly becoming an important agricultural and commercial pole requiring a political-administrative organization, being met with the elevation of the region to the category of municipality. Its name is a reference to the high forests of the region.

Today Alta Floresta D'Oeste, is in wide development, being a great pole of livestock development, whether of beef cattle or dairy cattle.

With internationally recognised natural attractions, such as the Guaporé Valley and its beauties, it attracts a large number of tourists, who seek interaction with nature and activities such as sport fishing and camping.

Surrounded by the biodiversity of the Guaporé Valley, Alta Floresta D'Oeste, it has numerous indigenous villages in the reserve areas of the Rio Branco Indigenous Land and Massaco Indigenous Land. The latter stands out for being the first national reserve to be demarcated, with no contact with the indigenous people who are there.
