🇫🇷 Sumène is a commune in the Gard department in southern France. Exposed to a Mediterranean climate, it is drained by the Hérault, the Rieutord, the Argentesse, the Recodier, the Garenne stream and various other small rivers. Included in the Cévennes, the municipality has a remarkable natural heritage: a Natura 2000 site (the "gorges de Rieutord, Fage and Cagnasse"), a protected area (the regional nature reserve of Combe Chaude) and five natural areas of ecological, faunal and floristic interest. Cantonal capital until 2015, the municipality is now integrated into that of Vigan.
