🇭🇺 Törökszentmiklós is a town in Jász-Nagykun-Szolnok county, in the Northern Great Plain region of central Hungary. It is the third-largest settlement in the county.
1Geography It covers an area of 185.16 km² (71 sq mi).
1History The settlement was first mentioned (as Zenthmyclos) in charters of King Zsigmond in 1399.
In 1552 the castle of Balaszentmiklós fell under the Turkish siege. ("Törok" is Hungarian for "Turkish".) In 1685 it was destroyed.
In 1738 the settlement, then known as Török Szent Miklós, became a market town.
1Sport The association football club, Törökszentmiklósi FC, is based in the town.

Törökszentmiklós has a population of over 23,145 people. Törökszentmiklós also forms the centre of the wider Törökszentmiklós District which has a population of over 36,739 people. It is also a part of the larger Jasz-Nagykun-Szolnok County. Törökszentmiklós is situated near Szolnok.
