🇫🇷 Étrépagny is a commune in the Eure department in the Normandy region in northern France. The municipality is located on the Norman Vexin plateau about 18 km from Les Andelys.

History Roman occupation. A resort of King Dagobert I, erected as a fortress in the ducal period, Étrépagny was in the 16th century the property of Marie de Bourbon, Duchess of Longueville and the Turgot family in the 18th century.

The original village occupied the marshy lands of the green enclosure before the 11th century. The houses were concentrated on Saint-Rock, the Bonde and Valtot (and its mill). Work carried out in 1820, to a depth of more than four meters, made it possible to meet several successive layers indicating habitats. The village moved to escape the flooding of the river. Around the 14th century, it moved north to become today's city. The green clos was gradually cleaned up and transformed into meadows. There was erected the Château Vert, disappeared.

Ancient acts quote the city church under the invocation of Saint John It was placed at the Clos Vert in the triangle formed by the rue de Grainville, the suburb of Vernon and the chemin de Gamaches-en-Vexin. This place not far from Valtot was in a way the centre of the primitive city and it preserved until the last century the name of Corbelet cemetery at the place of the same name.

Saint-Martin was gathered in the village of Étrépagny on February 2, 1809.

The village was ravaged by a Prussian column during the 1870 war.

On Friday, May 15, 1964, while digging a pit for the construction of a rocker for the sugar factory, stone sarcophagi, containing skeletons in a perfect state of conservation were unearthed.

Economy The municipality is a large village surrounded by a countryside open to cereal and beet growings. There are located the Étrépagny sugar factory and a Paulstra factory, specialized in the manufacture of rubber articles.
