Bultei, Province of Sassari, Sardinia, Italy

🇮🇹 Bultei (Urtei) is a comune (municipality) in the Province of Sassari in the Italian region Sardinia, located about 140 km (87 mi) north of Cagliari and about 50 km (31 mi) south-east of Sassari.

Bultei borders the following municipalities: Anela, Benetutti, Bono, Nughedu San Nicolò, Pattada.

History The exact time of the founding of Bultei is not known, not even approximate. What is now ascertained is that the territory of Bultei was already inhabited in the Neolithic and Bronze Age, and this is demonstrated by the numerous nuraghi and the tombs of the giants scattered throughout its territory. Until the beginning of the 20th century, the remains of two ancient inhabited centres, which are believed to have been annihilated by a terrible plague towards the end of the Middle Ages, were still visible to the north of the country.

The first data on the country date back to 1388, but for the historians Bultei it originates at least two centuries earlier.

In the field of Bultei, there was also the town of Usolvìsi, which was destroyed in the early Middle Ages. In Usolvisi there was a convent of the Camaldolesi, to whom the bishop of Castro, in the second half of the twelfth century, ceded the nearby church of San Saturnino with a strong rent. It is likely that the foundation of the current Bultei is just before one thousand.

Bultei was first part of the Curatoria of Anela del Giudicato di Torres, then, under the judicato d'Arborea it was incorporated into the county of Goceano and became a royal fief after the defeat of the Marquis of Oristano in Macomer.

The country was born to Francesco Bande, one of the most important musicians in the history of Sardinian music.

Football[edit | edit source] The main football team in the municipality is the Unione Sportiva Bultei 1970 which plays in the First Category championship. Born in 1970, she came to participate in the Sardinian Promotion Championship for four seasons from 1994 to 1998.
