🇧🇷 Lins is a municipality in the western part of the state of São Paulo in Brazil. The elevation is 437 m. Distance is 455 km from the state capital, São Paulo.

History The town was founded in the beginning of the 20th century, at first with the name of Santo Antônio do Campestre, and grew after the arrival of the Estrada de Ferro Noroeste do Brasil (The Northwest railroad of Brazil). It became an independent municipality in 1920, when it was separated from the municipality Pirajuí. It was named after Manoel Joaquim de Albuquerque Lins, who was the president of the state of São Paulo from 1908 to 1912. The name was officially changed from Albuquerque Lins to Lins in 1926.

Transport The city is served by Gov. Lucas Nogueira Garcez Airport.

Trade Lins has 1,749 trade stores among them, retail, minimarkets, grocery stores, building materials, clothing store, etc.

Service There are 858 service stores: among them, accommodation, food, land transport and computer.

Industry The municipality stands out for the presence of JBS Friboi. The conglomerate, active in various branches (meat, leather, hygiene and cleaning, products) employs a good part of the local workforce and is also indirectly responsible for much of the city's trade movement.

Recently, the Lins Plant was implemented, this alcohol-fuel plant, belonging to the Batatais group. Its implementation contributed to the substantial increase of the linense economy movement.

In addition, there is a considerable portion of workers who travel for about 10 km to the headquarters of the plant belonging to the Equipav group, another large company in the sugar-alcohol sector that is located in an area belonging to the limits of the municipality of Promissão.

Agriculture In what for years was considered the largest milk basin in the state of São Paulo, agricultural activity is quite diverse, with a growing predominance of sugar cane planting.

In the vicinity of the city we also find coffee plantations, rubber taps, eucalyptus, corn, and cotton. From the second half of the present decade, following the dominant trend, there was the aforementioned increase in the planting of sugarcane.

Clubs The municipality has 3 clubs in operation: • Lins Country Club, located on the banks of the Marechal Rondon Highway. • Sports Association of the Military Police, with swimming pools, sports courts, soccer fields, snack barn, bocce court, party room, children's playground. Located on Rua Minas Gerais without number, in Vila Militar. • Banco do Brasil Athletic Association, which has a heated pool and several football courts. It is located on Avenida Duque de Caxias. Linen citizens also had, for decades, the remarkable presence of the Linense Club (now belonging to the City Hall), prestigious by high society and which, in recent years, has experienced a period of decay and drastic reduction in the number of members, ending its activities in 2008.

Rural itineraries The rural itineraries of the Campestre and the Rio Dourado, mainly bring together gastronomic and leisure attractions in the rural area of the city.

Thermal Waters The city has a resort hotel, the Blue Tree Park belonging to the Blue Tree Hotels chain, with a large water park with thermal waters.

SOCCER Lins currently has a football team, which is Clube Atlético Linense, popularly known by its fans as "Elefante da Noroeste".

The club, after dark times in the 90s, reappeared in the football scene, having obtained access to the A2 series of the Paulista Football Championship in 2008, and also to the C series of the Brazilian Championship that same year.

On April 24, 2010 the team of Clube Atlético Linense with a victory over União Agrícola Barbarense became the Paulista Champion of Series A2 2010 and returned after 53 years to the Paulista Championship of Series A1 in 2011.

Football Stadiums The city has the dear 'Estádio Municipal Gilberto Siqueira Lopes', better known as 'Gilbertão', a name given in honor of an important lawyer and local politician, where the games of the city team with the capacity of 15,000 fans are sent.

In addition to the main stadium, the city has other smaller ones used for the amateur championship such as the Fernando Costa Stadium, Campo do Botafogo, Campo do Pasetto among others.

Other Sports The city of Lins also has teams of volleyball, futsal (represented by Linense) and other Olympic sports. It also has a basketball team, Lins Basquete, which reached the runner-up of the 2014 Gold League (division of access to the NBB league). Later, with the lack of support for unexplained reasons, the team fell in performance and began to play regional leagues and the access division of the Paulista Basketball Championship. It is also known for being one of the only cities in the region where there is baseball practice.

Armed Forces The city is home to the 37th Mechanized Infantry Battalion (37th BI MEC), which belongs to the 11th Mechanized Infantry Brigade (Brigade Anhanguera), of the Brazilian Army. It is the troop of the Land Force of the State of São Paulo furthest from its capital.
