🇫🇷 Longchamps is a commune in the Eure department in Normandy in northern France.

Geography: Location Longchamps is located in the Norman Vexin, 5 km from Étrépagny, 15 km from Gisors, 12 km from Lyons-la-Forêt and 20 km from Gournay-en-Bray.

It belongs to the community of communes of Vexin Normand. It is located within the Rouen, Beauvais and Paris triangle. The neighboring municipalities are Morgny, Heudicourt, Lyons-la-Forêt and Étrépagny. It is a rural municipality that has seen its population increase over the years.

Land use The land use of the municipality, as shown in the European Biophysical Land Use Database Corine Land Cover (CLC), is marked by the importance of agricultural territories (97.3% in 2018), a proportion identical to that of 1990 (96.5%). The detailed distribution in 2018 is as follows: arable land (92.7%), heterogeneous agricultural areas (4.6%), urbanized areas (2.5%), forests (0.1%). The evolution of the land use of the municipality and its infrastructure can be observed on the different cartographic representations of the territory: the Cassini map (18th century), the staff map (1820-1866) and the aerial maps or photos of the IGN for the current period (1950 to today).

History • Guillaume de Longchamps, Chancellor of England (1189-1197). • Étienne de Longchamps, brother of the previous one. Familiar with Richard the Lionheart, he accompanied him on the 3rd crusade to become governor of Saint John of Acre (1191-1192). The pipe rolls reported him as the provost of Lyons in 1198. In 1204, he passed into the service of Philippe Auguste, of whom he became a faithful vassal. He died in Bouvines in 1214 under the eyes of the Capetian king whom he was trying to protect. • Néel de Longchamps, nephew of the previous two.
