The place was populated with the name of Punta Gorda when, in 1832 during the government of Pascual Echagüe, a group of families settled there.Guarani who had a mayor, from Bella Unión in the Uruguay.

Port of Diamante[Edit] Upstream of the city of Diamante, the Paraná River diversifies its course with forks, unstable meanders, shallow depth and permanent dredging needs, limiting navigability. Thus, they transform the port of Diamante as the last overseas port of the Paraná River, and the only overseas port in the nearby province of Entre Ríos or two major capitals; the capital cities, Santa Fe and Paraná. The port of Diamante is located near kilometer 533 of the Paraná River.

Pre Delta National Park[Edit] The Pre Delta National Park was created in 1992, in order to preserve a sample of environments of the Upper Delta of the Paraná River. It has an area of 2,608 hectares and is located in the south-west of the Province of Entre Ríos, about 6 km south of the city of Diamante, with a paved road and provided with signs so that the tourist has the easy to reach.

On April 1, 1997, the Park Administration became independent from the Palmar Park Administration, on which it depended from the beginning.

The Pre Delta has an area for public use called Paraje La Jaula, the epicenter of all recreational activities. With the desire to provide greater resources to improve services and value the national park, different works have been carried out in recent times. Among them, the access cover, the Reporting Center and the service area, which has an interpretation centre "Dr. Ana Inés Malvárez. It has offices, supplies and a body of toilets. It will also have a Multimedia Room, equipped with ambient sound, LED screen, computer, projector cannon and air-conditioned environment.

On the other hand, the National Parks Administration took an important step with a view to the expansion of the Park, by acquiring the property called "Campo Coronel Sarmiento" adjacent to the aforementioned protected area, and acquired from the General Staff of the Army. The 146-hectare property is of great biological and landscape interest. This allowed an expansion with respect to the protection of the flora and fauna that this eco-region has. He is also in charge of the administration of the Islas de Santa Fe national park.

It has at least three plant strata, in some sectors combined with invasive and non-invasive exotic species, which we will replace as we regenerate the native mountain through a nursery of native species that can repopulate the mountain and replace exotic ones in addition to using it for educational tours that create awareness in our children and young people.

They are symbols of peace and wisdom, as well as patience, integrity and teamwork. They keep the natural memory, they create our consciousness to remember who we are, they take care of us, they heal us, and they allow us to learn, they do not mean wisdom or medicine that to anyone who feels under them, they give it without exception.

The species of birds that inhabit the area are typical of the Entre Ríos spine, in addition to the generalist and others typical of the Paraná flood valley, which circumstantially due to their proximity can occasionally use some environments of the property.

The army soldiers swam across the Paraná River, from this point located on the banks of diamond ravines. "Yesterday's sun has illuminated one of the greatest spectacles that nature and men offer the passage of a great river through a great army. The heights of Punta Gorda occupy a prominent place in the history of the Argentine peoples. From this point have started the greatest political waves that have shaken them. From here General Ramírez left, from here General Lavalle defending different political principles.
