๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธ Oklahoma City, officially the City of Oklahoma City, and often shortened to OKC, is the capital and largest city in the U.S. state of Oklahoma. It is the county seat of Oklahoma County. The Oklahoma City metropolitan area is also part of the Oklahoma Cityโ€“Shawnee Combined Statistical Area. Oklahoma City's city limits extend somewhat into Canadian, Cleveland, and Pottawatomie counties, though much of those areas outside the core Oklahoma County area are suburban tracts or protected rural zones.

Oklahoma City has one of the world's largest livestock markets. Oil, natural gas, petroleum products and related industries are its economy's largest sector. The city is in the middle of an active oil field and oil derricks dot the capitol grounds. The federal government employs a large number of workers at Tinker Air Force Base and the United States Department of Transportation's Mike Monroney Aeronautical Center (which house offices of the Federal Aviation Administration and the Transportation Department's Enterprise Service Center, respectively).

Oklahoma City is on the I-35 Corridor, one of the primary travel corridors south into neighbouring Texas and Mexico and north towards Wichita and Kansas City. Located in the state's Frontier Country region, the city's north-east section lies in an ecological region known as the Cross Timbers.

The economy of Oklahoma City, is driven by being a regional power centre of government and a centre for energy exploration, and includes the sectors of information technology, services, health services, and administration. The city is headquarters to two Fortune 500 companies: Chesapeake Energy and Devon Energy, as well as being home to Love's Travel Stops & Country Stores, which is ranked thirteenth on Forbes' list of private companies.

Among the top 20 employers in the city are: State of Oklahoma (SEAT); United States Federal Aviation Administration; Integris Health; University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center; Hobby Lobby Stores (HQ); City of Oklahoma City; Mercy Health Center (HQ); Paycom (HQ; OG+E Energy Corp (HQ); OU Medicine; SSM Health Care (HQ); AT&T; Sonic Corp. (HQ);Devon Energy Corporation (HQ); Chesapeake Energy Corporation (HQ); The Boeing Company (Regional HQ); LSB Industries, Inc. (HQ); Cox Communications; Dell; American Fidelity Assurance (HQ).

Other major corporations with a large presence in the city of Oklahoma City include the United Parcel Service, Farmers Insurance Group, Great Plains Coca-Cola Bottling Company, Deaconess Hospital, Johnson Controls, MidFirst Bank, Rose State College, and Continental Resources.

Other large employers within the Oklahoma City MSA include United States Air Force โ€“ Tinker AFB; University of Oklahoma; University of Central Oklahoma; and Norman Regional Hospital. According to the Greater Oklahoma City Chamber of Commerce, the metropolitan area's economic output grew by 33% due chiefly to economic diversification. Forbes magazine reported that the city had solid growth in energy, agriculture and manufacturing. Oklahoma City has three business improvement districts, including one encompassing the central business district.
