Nara, Koulikoro Region, Mali
🇲🇱 Nara (ߣߊߙߊ) is a town and rural commune in the Koulikoro Region of south-western Mali. The town is the administrative centre of the Nara Cercle. It is about 37 km (23 mi), south of the international border with Mauritania and approximately 374 km (232 mi), by road, north-east of the Malian capital, Bamako. The rural commune covers an area of 1,300 square km (500 sq mi) and includes the town and 16 surrounding villages.
Nara Cercle is an administrative subdivision of the Koulikoro Region of Mali. Its seat is the town of Nara.
Nara Cercle is the northernmost area of Koulikoro Region, and abuts the desert regions of Mauritania to the north. It covers some 30,000 km2, and is home to Bambara and Sarakole (Soninké) peoples, as well as semi-nomadic Maure and Fula peoples, engaged in farming and livestock raising.
Administrative divisions Nara Cercle is divided into 11 communes: • Allahina • Dabo • Dilly • Dogofry • Fallou • Guénéibe • Guiré • Koronga • Nara • Niamana • Ouagadou.

Nara has a population of over 19,793 people. Nara also forms the centre of the wider Nara Cercle which has a population of over 242,990 people. It is also a part of the larger Koulikoro Region.
