History • In 1775 we found the first antecedent of a population in the place by a post office and diligence installed in what was known as Cañada de Escobar, administered by Lorenzo Peralta, which is why the place was also known as Posta de Peralta. • The arrival of the railroad in 1864 meant the end of the post office but the beginning of the town with the opening of the General Rodríguez station halfway between Moreno and Luján. That same year the town was founded on the bases of some lands donated by Bernardo de Irigoyen, Manuela Gómez and Manuela Maison, the plot was made by the architect Otto Arnin. • The railroad meant a great boost and advance for the town, which would soon have its first chapel (1871) and would become independent from the Luján party in 1878. As a curious fact, Bernardo de Irigoyen had a rest room in the place, in which the first eucalyptus trees in the country were planted. • On January 1, 1881, the first local authorities took office, with Mr. Juan Garrahan appointed as justice of the peace and president of the municipal corporation. • In 1929, the industrial establishment was definitively established that would contribute in large part to the development of General Rodríguez and La Nación: the dairy company La Serenísima. • In 2019, a great advance has been seen in the City in public, decorative, artistic and reforestation works, giving a new life to General Rodríguez in order to transform it into a living work of art.
