Bordj Bou Arréridj, Algeria

🇩🇿 Bordj Bou Arréridj is the capital city of Bordj Bou Arréridj Province, Algeria. It is situated 148 miles by road east of Algiers, near the Hodna Massif in the southern Kabylie Mountains, at an elevation of 916 metres.

The economy is largely based upon agriculture and forestry, with some small-scale industries. Bordj Bou Arréridj is well-connected to other urban centres by road and rail. The cities of Setif and Bouira are 70 km east and 115 km north-west, respectively. CA Bordj Bou Arreridj (CABBA) is a 1st Level Algerian professional football club based in town; its home grounds are 20 August 1955 Stadium in Mohamed Belouizdad.

Economy The city is considered highly innovative for presence of many high-tech. The city is home to a number of technology companies. The city is home to the headquarters of Condor Electronics.

Sports Bordj Bou Arréridj has a team in the Algerian Ligue Professionnelle 1: CA Bordj Bou Arréridj, founded in 1931. They also have two teams in the Algerian Basketball Championship: IRB Bordj Bou Arréridj and OS Bordj Bou Arréridj.

Agriculture Bordj Bou Arréridj is a preeminently agricultural province, the area of the Hautes Plaines being especially suitable for cereal cultivation. In the north, the mountainous area of the Bibans is dominated by tree crops, especially olive and fig trees; the area has many traditional oil mills. The south-west area is a steppe where pastoral farming is practiced extensively associated with the cultivation of cereal in fallow areas.

Industry The wilaya of Bordj Bou Arreridj became a young industrial center. It is among the most dynamic wilaya of Algeria, particularly in the electronics industry and agribusiness. It was renamed by the Algerians: "Capital of electronics". Several groups have settled national dimension as Cobra, Cristor, Star, Condor, Samsung and Nidor. Bordj Bou Arreridj is marked by its private contractors.

The Algerian government encourages the development of the High Plains (Setif - Bordj Bou Arreridj) through the deployment of several major initiatives such as: construction of infrastructure such as the East-West highway and creating areas of integrated industrial activities. A new industrial area was established in the commune of El Hamadia to relieve the industrial area of the city of Bordj Bou Arreridj.
