Berisso, Buenos Aires Province, Argentina

🇦🇷 Berisso is a city and the head town of the partido of Berisso in Buenos Aires Province, Argentina. It forms part of the Greater La Plata urban area.

Berisso was founded by Italian immigrants, and settled by Italians and other European immigrants. Most Berissenses (name referring to the people of Berisso) are of Italian, Ukrainian, or Polish descent, but include those of Spanish, German, Portuguese, Albanian, Arab, Bulgarian, Croatian, Armenian, Slovak, Irish, Lithuanian, Jewish and Greek descent.

Because it is home to many ethnicities, Berisso is known as "The Provincial Capital of the Immigrant". Berisso's diversity is celebrated on September with their own "Immigrant's Festival".

The N.O. borders the Grand Dock of Puerto La Plata that separates it from the city of Ensenada. Its N.E. edge is the Río de La Plata, which covers a coastline of 22 km. The city of La Plata constitutes its S.O. limit while Magdalena's party makes up the S.E. demarcation. It is located at a distance of approximately 70 km from the Autonomous City of Buenos Aires.

The German Collective is also organized, which has its headquarters and school in Villa Argüello. 1925 Czech immigrants founded the Czechoslovak Domov Home. Simultaneously, the English Community with Spinning is organized. 1928 The Vostok company, of Belarusian origin, emerged. 1931 The Lithuanians found the Mindaugas Society, in homage to the king of the same name. At the same time, the Slovak club Stefanic was born. 1932 Bulgarian immigrants founded the Kiril and Methodius society, which in 1955 was renamed Ivan Vazov. 1933 The Ukrainians founded the Renaissance Society. 1937 The Spanish Collective reappears, founded in 1915 but temporarily disappeared. As a result of all this active foreign presence, in 1977 the Federation of Foreign Entities emerged that began to organize the "Immigrant Party".
