Schwetzingen, Baden-Württemberg, Germany


🇩🇪 Schwetzingen is a German town in north-west Baden-Württemberg, around 10 km (6.2 mi) south-west of Heidelberg and 15 km (9.3 mi) south-east of Mannheim. Schwetzingen is one of the five biggest cities of the Rhein-Neckar-Kreis district and a medium-sized centre between Heidelberg and Mannheim.

The city is most famous for Schwetzingen Palace and the Schlosstheater. The palace grounds also feature a mosque, the oldest in Germany. Although not functional, it was used by Muslim prisoners in the Franco-Prussian War.

Schwetzingen has a population of over 21,577 people. Schwetzingen also forms part of the wider Rhein-Neckar District which has a population of over 548,233 people. Schwetzingen is situated 10 km south-west of Heidelberg.
