🇫🇷 Pordic is a commune in the Côtes-d'Armor department of Brittany in north-western France. On 1 January 2016 the former commune of Tréméloir merged into Pordic.

Breton language The municipality launched a linguistic plan through Ya d'ar brezhoneg on September 19, 2008.

Geography With an area of 2,894 hectares, the municipality is located on the banks of the English Channel, about 10 km north-west of the city of Saint-Brieuc. With an average altitude of about 100 m, it occupies part of the plateau that surrounds the bay of Saint-Brieuc. This plateau is cut by deep valleys, many of which delimit the territory of the municipality (Parfond de Gouët, Rodo, Ic, ruisseau du Vau Madec).

On its seafront, it is bordered by a cliff coast that occasionally gives way to small beaches, (Tournemine, Petit Havre) or pebble beaches (Barillet, Port Jéhan).

Typology Pordic is a rural municipality, because it is part of the municipalities with little or very low density, within the meaning of the INSEE density grid. It belongs to the urban unit of Pordic, a monocommunal urban unit, constituting an isolated city.

In addition, the municipality is part of the area of attraction of Saint-Brieuc, of which it is a municipality of the crown. This area, which includes 51 municipalities, is categorised in areas of 200,000 to less than 700,000 inhabitants.

The municipality, bordered by the English Channel, is also a coastal municipality within the meaning of the law of January 3, 1986, known as the coastal law20. Specific urban planning provisions therefore apply to it in order to preserve natural areas, sites, landscapes and the ecological balance of the coastline, such as the principle of inconstructibility, outside urbanised spaces, on the 100-meter coastal strip, or more if the local urban planning plan provides for it.

Urban morphology The municipality is made up of the village, which brings together most of the population in the centre, and several hamlets scattered throughout the countryside.
