Nový Jičín is a town in the Moravian-Silesian Region of the Czech Republic. The town is situated on the spurs of the Carpathian Mountains about 30 km (19 mi) from Ostrava. The historic centre of Nový Jičín is well preserved and historically significant and is protected by law as urban monument reservation. The town is noted for its hatting industry.
