🇯🇵 Kikuchi (菊池市, Kikuchi-shi) is a city located in Kumamoto Prefecture on the island of Kyushu, Japan. The city was founded in 1958.
In 2005, Kikuchi absorbed the towns of Shichijo and Shisui, and the village of Kyokushi (all from Kikuchi District) to create the new and expanded city of Kikuchi.
Kikuchi has a population of over 49,455 people. Kikuchi also forms part of the wider Kumamoto Prefecture which has a population of over 1,748,134 people. Kikuchi is situated 23 km north-east of Kumamoto.
