🇫🇷 Jarrie is a commune in the Isère department in south-eastern France. It is part of the Grenoble urban unit (agglomeration).

Parish of the former royal province of Dauphiné during the Ancien Régime, the municipality that became Isère when the departments were created, housed the headquarters of the community of communes in the South Grenoblois between 2003 and 2013, then joined the community of Grenoble-Alpes Métropole in 2014.

Jarrie has been on the Alpine trade route since antiquity, a road that will later become a Roman road.

Geography The municipality of Jarrie is located between Vizille and Grenoble and it is bordering Champagne-sur-Drac. The municipality is divided into three parts: Haute-Jarrie, Basse-Jarrie and the Chaberts. Each part at its school and parish church. The town hall and the chemistry museum are located in Basse-Jarrie.

Industrial sector • Arkema Created in 1916, a company dedicated to the production of chlorine and lime chloride to meet the needs of the National Defence is built in the valley (Lower-Jarrie sector). After having undergone many transformations (The Jarrie site has specialized in the manufacture of chemical intermediates used in the paper industry or detergent), the plant belongs to the French chemical group Arkema and has, in 2021, a workforce of 340 employees. Located upstream of the confluence between the Drac and the Romanche, near the Basse-Jarrie district, along the road that connects Grenoble to Vizille, the plant is part of the Technological Risk Prevention Plan (PPRT). • Framatome Located downstream of the Arkema site, opposite the confluence of the Drac and the Romanche, the Framatome plant produces zirconium sponge after chemical operations and extractive metallurgy and has, according to the company's official website, two large operating units, the "chemistry" unit that transforms the raw material, zirconia, into zirconium.

Agricultural sector The municipality is partially part of the geographical area of production and transformation of the "Bois de Chartreuse", the first AOC in the Wood sector in France.
