Chengdu, alternatively Chengtu, is a sub-provincial city which serves as the capital of the Chinese province of Sichuan. It is one of the three most-populous cities in Western China. The administrative area is the largest in Sichuan. Chengdu's built-up area includes Xinjin County and Deyang's Guanghan City.
Chengdu is rated Beta + by the Globalization and World Cities Research Network (GaWC) which evaluates and ranks the relationships between world cities in the context of globalisation. Beta level cities are cities that link moderate economic regions to the world economy.

Chengdu has a population of over 10,376,000 people. Chengdu also forms part of the wider Chengdu metropolitan area which has a population of over 14,427,500 people.
