🇨🇿 Buštěhrad is a town in Kladno District in the Central Bohemian Region of the Czech Republic. It is located 20 km north-west of Prague.
The first written mention of Buštěhrad is from 1209. In the 13th century, a keep was built here, later rebuilt to a castle, which was one of the biggest in the kingdom in the 15th century. In 1497, Buštěhrad was raised to a town by Vladislaus II. During the Thirty Years' War, the castle was destroyed. After the war, houses were built in the ruins, and it became a unique quarter, today called Starý Hrad ("Old Castle"). In the 19th century, the town developed thanks to coal mining and construction of the railway.
Buštěhrad has a population of over 3,600 people. Buštěhrad also forms part of the wider Kladno District which has a population of over 165,271 people. It is also a part of the larger Central Bohemian Region. Buštěhrad is situated 6 km east of Kladno.
